Special Services

From mist-netting and banding migrating birds with local researchers to taking tree cores in the Pine Barrens to determine fire frequency, students in our Special Services program are directly involved in authentic studies of the natural world.

The Outdoor Environmental Education Program has expanded its services to meet the needs of school districts by offering these unique and innovative Special Service programs. The programs provide an opportunity for students, grades pre-K through 12, to work with trained staff, who lead activities in the classroom and in the field.

Special Service Programs support and enhance the classroom curriculum while satisfying the NYS Standards and Process Skills.  They are provided through single or multi-day experiences.

The Outdoor Environmental Education staff can also create customized programs for individual school districts to help them meet their educational objectives through exciting field science learning experiences.  On site, in the field or on international travel study programs, the Outdoor Environmental Education Program provides students exciting opportunities to explore the natural world.
